Driver in deadly wrong-way crash asks if anyone was killed, says Colorado State Patrol
Further investigation into a tragic collision in Colorado that resulted in the deaths of two individuals has revealed that the driver responsible for the accident was impaired at the time. Authorities found that the individual, identified as 33-year-old Michael Colson, had been under the influence of marijuana and alcohol before getting behind the wheel on July 21. The victims, Michael and Debbie Carman, who were operating a food truck in Conifer, were struck by Colson's Acura on Highway 285. The collision also involved another vehicle, whose driver sustained minor injuries. Colson admitted to authorities that he had been drinking and using marijuana before the crash. He mentioned that he had smoked marijuana at home before deciding to drive back to Arizona to visit his uncle. Colson acknowledged that his driving speed was excessive, reaching up to 60-80 mph. He is currently facing multiple charges, including vehicular homicide and driving under the influence, and is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on a $100,000 cash bond awaiting his next court date on September 9.
