Driver in Deadly Florida U-Turn Accident Refused Bail, May Be Deported
Harjinder Singh, a truck driver from India, was denied bond on Saturday after being accused of causing a deadly crash in Florida. He is facing deportation proceedings along with charges of three counts of vehicular homicide. Singh allegedly made an illegal U-turn on a highway near West Palm Beach, resulting in a collision with a minivan that led to the death of three individuals. The incident has sparked a debate between federal immigration authorities and California officials regarding driver's license policies for undocumented immigrants. Despite California issuing Singh a commercial driver's license, federal officials claim he was in the country illegally when the license was granted. Singh is currently being held in a Florida county jail with ICE maintaining custody while awaiting trial for both state and federal charges.
