Driver in Brooklyn crash causing fatalities set for arraignment

The individual accused of causing a weekend car crash on Ocean Parkway in Brooklyn that tragically resulted in the death of a mother and her two children is set to be arraigned virtually today. Miriam Yarimi, 32, will face multiple charges following the incident near Quentin Road in Gravesend. The arraignment is scheduled to take place after 9 a.m. Yarimi's Audi collided with a rideshare vehicle carrying passengers before striking another mother and three children crossing the street. Yarimi, who had a suspended license and a history of traffic violations, underwent a psychiatric evaluation at Bellevue Hospital post-accident. This unsettling event, described by NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch as "horrific," unfolded at an intersection on Ocean Parkway Saturday afternoon. The crash led to the tragic loss of a mother and two children, with a third child in critical condition. The driver of the Toyota Camry involved in the crash and its four passengers sustained injuries as well. Investigators are exploring if Yarimi went through a red light and if impairment played a role.
