Driver impaled after vehicle collides with semi-truck and fence in Modesto
The California Highway Patrol is looking into a car accident involving a big rig truck and a vehicle that occurred on Tuesday morning. The Modesto Fire Department responded to the incident on South 9th Street around 5 a.m. Firefighters discovered a vehicle had collided with the back of a big rig trailer and a fence. One person was impaled by a fence post but managed to remove it before the firefighters arrived. The patient received advanced life support from two paramedic firefighters from MFD's Engine 19 and the ambulance crew while being taken to a nearby hospital. The driver's current condition remains uncertain.
