Driver hospitalized after serious collision on I-91 in West Springfield
I-91 northbound in West Springfield has been reopened after a crash on Monday afternoon, according to Massachusetts State Police Trooper Leah O'Connell. The crash, which occurred near mile marker 9.4, involved two vehicles and resulted in serious injuries to one driver, who was hospitalized. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) issued a traffic alert at 12:26 p.m., indicating that the two left lanes on I-91 at exit 10A were closed. The left lanes remained shut for several hours before being reopened. Waze's live traffic map displayed congestion before the Chicopee curve due to the incident. The crash is currently under investigation by various Massachusetts State Police units and the District Attorney's Office.
