Driver from Fort Wayne arrested by police for fatal crash in April
Fort Wayne authorities arrested a 28-year-old man, Brandon Tyrone Vershon Pearson, in connection to a fatal crash that occurred in April. He was apprehended after a high-speed chase through northeast Fort Wayne that tragically ended in a crash resulting in the death of 28-year-old Jamela Renee Hathaway. Pearson is facing multiple charges, including resisting law enforcement with a vehicle causing death and reckless homicide. Court documents reveal that Pearson, who was found to be driving with a suspended license and intoxicated at the time of the crash, was also violating his probation. Despite initially trying to blame Hathaway for the crash, evidence including footage from a bar showed him behind the wheel just before the incident. Pearson is currently detained without bond at the Allen County Jail and will have his first court appearance on Friday morning.
