Driver found dead in San Joaquin County after car crashes into slough

A 60-year-old man was found dead after a car crashed into a slough Wednesday night in San Joaquin County, the California Highway Patrol said. CHP was dispatched around 11:19 p.m. to Eight Mile and Empire Tract roads to a reported crash, CHP said. Upon arrival, officers found a truck that, for unknown reasons, drove 40 mph through the intersection, down the boat launch and into the Little Potato Slough.The driver was later found deceased in the water, CHP said. No other injuries were reported. It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
