Driver flees Wilmington traffic stop, resulting in infant fatality in car crash: authorities

A tragic incident occurred in Wilmington early Tuesday morning resulting in the death of a 4-month-old infant. According to authorities, the fatal crash took place after a vehicle, carrying four individuals, attempted to evade a police stop near the Marsh Road exit of I-95 around 1 a.m. The 33-year-old driver, who was wanted for multiple offenses, fled the traffic stop as officers approached. The vehicle eventually crashed near the intersection of Marsh and Edgemoor roads, with the infant, identified as Maurice Brown Jr., being fatally injured. The driver sustained critical injuries and is admitted to the hospital, while a 10-year-old girl and a 32-year-old woman were hospitalized in stable condition. The specific charges the driver was wanted for have not been disclosed, and no charges have been announced yet.
