Driver facing charges for fatal crash after drunk driving near Bigfork alters plea

Dal Segall, previously pleading not guilty, changed his plea to guilty on one count of felony Vehicular Homicide While Under the Influence and three felony counts of Negligent Vehicular Assault. A plea agreement was reached between Segall's attorney and the State of Montana, recommending 60 years in prison, with 20 years suspended. The incident occurred when Segall was passing a vehicle in a no-passing zone on Highway 83, leading to a head-on collision on December 1. This resulted in the death of Wyatt Potts and critical injuries to three others, including Potts' fiancée Teressa Brandt. Despite the family's acknowledgment that they will never fully attain justice and that the impacts of the accident will linger, they view the binding plea agreement as a significant statement. Teressa, who also lost her unborn child and has undergone numerous surgeries, is described by her sister Amanda Sharpe as resilient and making progress in her recovery. Segall's sentencing is scheduled for December 12 in Flathead County District Court.
