Driver faces OWI charge following fatal ATV accident in northern Michigan
A tragic incident occurred in Kalkaska County when an off-road vehicle accident resulted in the death of one individual and serious injuries to two others, according to authorities. The crash took place in the early hours on private property in Springfield Township. It involved a side-by-side ATV carrying five passengers, none of whom were wearing seatbelts. Unfortunately, one passenger lost their life, another sustained a severe head injury, and a third broke an arm. The driver, a 33-year-old man from Albion, was arrested on charges of operating while intoxicated causing death and serious injury. The Michigan State Police are conducting an ongoing investigation into the matter.
