Driver faces felony charges for DUI and vehicular homicide in Lemon Grove collision

A 28-year-old man is facing serious legal consequences after supposedly driving under the influence of alcohol and causing a fatal collision in Lemon Grove. The San Diego County Sheriff's Office reported that the incident occurred close to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the intersection of Broadway and Sweetwater Road. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the man next to a pickup truck significantly damaged at the front. The individual, who was the sole occupant of the truck, showed clear signs of intoxication with the smell of alcohol and was in possession of open alcoholic beverages. Additionally, a nitrous oxide canister was found near the man and the truck. The crash involved another vehicle, an SUV carrying three adult passengers. Two occupants were injured and taken to a hospital, where one passenger sadly passed away later on. Video footage confirmed that the truck was traveling in the wrong direction before the collision occurred. The suspect was hospitalized and now faces charges including felony DUI and vehicular homicide.
