Driver faces charges in deadly hit-and-run accident in Morton Grove, IL
A man from Niles, named William Barkho, has been charged with a felony count after being involved in a hit-and-run accident that sadly resulted in the death of a 74-year-old man in Morton Grove, Illinois. The incident occurred on June 26 when Barkho was driving a gold or tan Chevrolet Equinox and hit Jonathan Friedman, who was walking on Beckwith Road. Despite fleeing the scene, Barkho was tracked down and evidence, including a doorbell camera recording and the missing emblem from his car, linked him to the crash. Barkho was indicted by a grand jury and made his first court appearance on Aug. 13, where the judge allowed him to remain free but forbade him from driving. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Sept. 22.
