Driver faces charges for deadly crash in Sullivan County

A man in Sullivan County, Tennessee is facing serious charges, including vehicular homicide and DUI, following a tragic incident that occurred early Monday. Tennessee Highway Patrol reported that a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox was heading north on Highway 421 when a passenger was hanging out of the window near Shady Ford Road around 4 a.m. The vehicle veered off the road and into a ditch. Unfortunately, the passenger, Fatima Guadalupe Valenzuela-Flores, 21, fell out of the window and passed away at the scene. The driver, Jacob Dylan Chambers, 21, initially left the crash site but was later apprehended at a boat ramp parking lot after crossing the bridge over South Holston Lake. Chambers now faces multiple charges, including vehicular homicide and DUI, according to THP. Another passenger who was in the vehicle at the time did not sustain any injuries.
