Driver dies in Rankin County crash, car submerged in pond
RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) - A driver died during a three-vehicle crash in Rankin County. The crash occurred in the area of Florence-Byram Road near Flinco Farms Road around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 19. Investigator Tyler Burnell, with the Rankin County Sheriff's Office, said deputies found one of the vehicles submerged in a nearby pond. The driver of that vehicle was extricated. After lifesaving measures were attempted, Burnell said the driver was pronounced deceased. The driver was identified as Rico Funchess, of Byram. The crash is under investigation.
