Driver dies in Beaverton collision following police chase

A driver in Portland and Beaverton who tried to run from police was tragically killed in a crash early Saturday morning, police reported. The incident began when Portland police officers tried to pull over a vehicle driving recklessly near Northwest 8th Avenue and Burnside Street shortly before 2:20 a.m. Initially, the driver stopped, but then quickly drove off towards Beaverton. Police managed to catch up to the vehicle on Southwest Barnes Road and 87th Avenue, where the driver escaped again, only to crash at a different location. The driver was found deceased in the vehicle at the scene. Authorities clarified that officers were not chasing the vehicle at the time of the crash, and no other vehicles were involved. The Washington County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the incident, and individuals with any pertinent information are urged to reach out to Portland police.
