Driver detained following chase that culminates in collision in Huntington Park
A driver was taken into custody following a police chase that ended in a crash in Huntington Park on Tuesday morning. The driver, described as a shirtless man, attempted to flee on foot after the collision at Malabar Street and Gage Avenue around 11:20 a.m. He was pursued by several officers and eventually apprehended in a nearby garage. The brief pursuit, which commenced at 48th Place and Alameda Street at 11:13 a.m., involved the suspect driving a white SUV through Huntington Park and Bell while recklessly evading authorities. The driver reached speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour, crossed dividers, ran red lights, and endangered other drivers with erratic maneuvers. Emergency responders were observed assisting at least one individual near the crash scene who may have been injured. Nidia Becerra provided information for this report.
