The man from Hiram who was involved in a tragic crash on Labor Day in 2023 that resulted in the deaths of five teenagers has been found guilty and given a sentence. Emanuel Rene Esfahani was taken into custody shortly after the devastating incident, which occurred on State Route 316 as it merges onto Interstate 85 southbound. Reports indicate that Esfahani was racing another vehicle on the ramp, leading to a loss of control and a fatal collision that claimed the lives of five teenagers. He faced multiple charges, including felony counts of homicide by vehicle in the first degree, reckless driving, racing on highways, speeding, failure to maintain a lane, and a seat belt violation. The Gwinnett County District Attorney's Office revealed that Esfahani has been sentenced to 30 years, with 16 to be served in prison and the rest on probation.
