Driver charged with more manslaughter counts after deadly semi truck crash, bond denied

Recent update: Florida's Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins has escorted back to the state Harjinder Singh, the semi-truck driver accused of causing a fatal crash in St. Lucie County last week. Singh attempted a U-turn on the Florida Turnpike, resulting in a collision that claimed the lives of three individuals in a minivan. Singh, reportedly in the country illegally, fled to California after the incident. Following an arrest warrant issued by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, Lt. Gov. Collins personally returned Singh to Florida. The 28-year-old is now under the custody of the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office and is subject to an ICE detainer. Facing charges of three counts of vehicular homicide and now three counts of manslaughter, Singh had his initial court appearance over the weekend. Due to concerns about his potential flight risk, based on evidence of illegal entry into the country, bond was denied during the hearing. The severity of these charges could lead to up to 30 years in prison for each count, as per state laws.
