Driver charged with manslaughter in deadly Oklahoma crash.

Legal charges have been brought against Wynn Novak, 39, in Delaware County almost a year and a half following a tragic head-on collision that resulted in the death of Estela Correa-Ruiz, a Springdale woman. The incident occurred on July 3, 2024, in the West Siloam Springs area. Novak faces charges of first-degree manslaughter and driving left of center. After the crash, witnesses and bystanders quickly acted to extinguish the resulting fire and assist Correa-Ruiz from her vehicle. Initially, authorities mistakenly attributed the accident to Correa-Ruiz, but a subsequent investigation by the 13th District Attorney Office Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force revealed that it was actually Novak who was driving in the wrong direction, leading to the collision. Novak, who sustained injuries in the crash, claimed that he was unable to avoid it as someone had allegedly pulled out in front of him. Tragically, Correa-Ruiz succumbed to her injuries shortly after being transported to the hospital. Novak faces a $10,000 bail and is currently sought for arrest. Questions remain as to why it took authorities close to 17 months to file charges in this case.
