Driver charged with intoxication manslaughter and theft following deadly Smith County collision
New details have emerged about a tragic incident that occurred in Smith County earlier this week, resulting in one individual being placed under arrest. The crash, which occurred on FM 2015 south of FM 16, involved a white F250 and another vehicle. The driver of the F-250, Jeremiah Munoz, 31, was traveling northbound when he veered into the southbound lane, leading to a collision with the vehicle driven by Brandi Carter. Tragically, Carter was found deceased at the scene by deputies. Munoz, who reportedly emitted a strong alcohol odor, admitted to having consumed alcohol in celebration of his birthday. Following an unsuccessful sobriety test, Munoz was arrested on charges of intoxication manslaughter and possession of controlled substances. It was discovered that Munoz had been involved in an altercation prior to the crash at a gas station, where he allegedly stole the F-250. Subsequent investigations led to the finding of drugs in Munoz's possession, resulting in additional charges. Munoz is currently in custody at the Smith County Jail awaiting bond.
