Driver charged in deadly drunk driving accident on wrong side of Lowell Connector
A man from Woburn is facing charges following a deadly crash on the Lowell Connector early Wednesday morning. Derek Witzenman, 29, was driving his vehicle in the wrong direction when it collided with another vehicle near Exit 5A at 1:15 a.m. The driver of the other vehicle was fatally injured and a passenger was taken to the hospital for treatment. Witzenman has been arrested and is expected to appear in Lowell District Court for several charges, including drunk driving and reckless driving. The identities of the victims have not been disclosed.
