
Driver charged after fatal crash on Boright Drive, Knoxville police say
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A woman died after a car crashed into a tree Thursday morning, and the driver is facing pending charges, the Knoxville Police Department said. Vehicular homicide charges are pending on Jada Warren, 24, after her car crashed into a tree on Boright Drive near Whitney Place around 1:50 a.m. Thursday, according to the KPD. "The passenger, an adult woman, was found near the car with life-threatening injuries," a KPD spokesperson wrote. "Despite life-saving measures provided on scene by KFD and AMR personnel, the victim was pronounced dead sometime after 3 a.m." Officers found Warren a short distance away, having left the scene of the crash, police say. She indicated that she was under the influence of marijuana at the time of the car crash, according to the police. Warren received non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, KPD wrote. Police say she will be booked on vehicular homicide driver intoxication charges when she is released.
