Driver blames car malfunction for fatal South Boston crash

The lawyer of a man accused of causing a fatal accident in South Boston by driving under the influence claimed that his client's car malfunctioned leading to the tragic incident. Francisco Romero, who appeared before a judge with the help of an interpreter, faces multiple charges, including OUI manslaughter, after his vehicle hit and killed a recent college graduate. Prosecutors stated that Romero was driving at a high speed when his car veered across lanes, striking and fatally injuring the victim. It is alleged that Romero was intoxicated at the time of the crash. His defense team argued that he had consumed a few drinks the night before and experienced car malfunctions on his way to work the next morning. Outside the court, the victim's family mourned the loss of their loved one, a promising young graduate. To honor his aspirations of finding a cure for cancer, they are establishing the Noah Curtis Greany Foundation. Romero remains in custody with a $100,000 cash bail, and his next court appearance is scheduled for May 2.
