Driver arrested for suspected DUI in collision that claimed life of detective, according to troopers

A man has been taken into custody following a tragic incident wherein an off-duty detective from the Anderson County Sheriff's Office lost his life in a suspected drunk driving accident on Wednesday. The collision occurred on Anderson Drive at Beaverdam Road in Williamston, resulting in the death of Detective Mark Garrett, a beloved member of the sheriff's office team. The offender, Douglas H. Lueck, was arrested and is facing charges of felony DUI causing death. Lueck's bond hearing is set for Thursday afternoon.
