
Driver arrested for manslaughter in 2024 motorcycle crash
A man from Portland, who was involved in a deadly motorcycle accident last year, has been taken into custody on charges of manslaughter and other offenses, according to authorities. Stephen Pettefer, aged 41, was formally charged by a grand jury in March regarding the incident that took place on August 4, 2024. The collision happened in the Lloyd District, involving an SUV that struck a motorcyclist before crashing into another SUV, as reported by the Portland police. Unfortunately, the motorcyclist, Aundrae Laroy Black, passed away on October 22, 2024, due to injuries sustained in the crash. Stephen Pettefer was arrested by U.S. Marshals in downtown Portland on Thursday and is being held in the Multnomah County Detention Center. Charges against him include second-degree manslaughter, as well as third- and fourth-degree assault, reckless driving, and endangering another person through reckless actions.
