Driver apprehended following stolen car chase causing crash on Greenbrier Parkway
The city of Chesapeake reported that a vehicle accident on Greenbrier Parkway led to the closure of the road in both directions Sunday morning between Executive Blvd and Professional Pl. The incident started with a traffic stop involving a stolen vehicle in a shopping center parking lot on Greenbrier Parkway around 9:40 a.m. After police attempted to pull over the suspect, they entered the northbound lanes near Greenbrier Middle School before heading south. The pursuit was eventually discontinued, but the suspect collided with another driver further south on the parkway before fleeing on foot. The suspect was apprehended shortly after and will face multiple felony charges. Both the suspect and the occupants of the other vehicle involved sustained injuries, but they were not life-threatening. The lanes were reopened by 11:09 a.m., and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
