Driver apprehended following pursuit from Walmart that culminates in collision, blaze on US 70, authorities report
A man wanted by authorities fled from a Clayton Walmart on Thursday afternoon, resulting in a pursuit that ended in a fiery crash and a subsequent manhunt along U.S. 70, as per the Clayton Police Department. The incident started at 12:30 p.m. when officers approached two individuals in a 2013 Chevrolet Impala in the store's parking lot at 805 Town Centre Blvd. in Clayton. Upon discovering that one of them had outstanding warrants, the individual provided a false name and attempted to evade officers by fleeing in the car. The driver led law enforcement on a chase before crashing into a tree. Subsequently, the driver abandoned the car, leaving a female passenger behind as it caught fire. Emergency services managed to put out the fire, and the driver was pursued on foot by Clayton officers in the nearby woods near Pine Hollow Golf Course. Tyshawn Lamar Satterwhite, 22, of Raleigh, was eventually apprehended. He faces multiple charges from Clayton police along with existing warrants from other counties. Collaboration from the Wake County Sheriff's Office and Johnston County Sheriff's Office aided in the search effort.
