
Driver apprehended after deadly accident on St. Joseph Avenue
HENDERSON, Ky. - Authorities from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office reported that an individual responsible for a deadly collision on St. Joseph Avenue has been taken into custody. The incident, which occurred earlier in the week, involved a box truck driven by Malik Stafford, 24, from Louisville, which crossed into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with an SUV. This resulted in the tragic death of the SUV driver, Maria Guetling, 31, and minor injuries to a child who was also in the vehicle. Stafford, who displayed signs of impairment due to cannabis use, was found to have cannabis in his system following testing. Sheriff Noah Robinson expressed condolences to the victim's family and emphasized the necessity of holding impaired drivers accountable to prevent future tragedies. Stafford has been charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated causing death and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
