Driver accused of wrong-way fatal DWI crash in New Mexico to stay in jail
NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – A man accused of killing a retired Albuquerque police lieutenant while driving intoxicated will be staying behind bars. Police said that back in May, New Mexico State Police received reports of a vehicle travelling the wrong way on Interstate 10. Authorities determined that 32-year-old Artem Durnov was the driver of that vehicle. Durnov was also hit by two vehicles head-on, causing the death of retired APD Lieutenant Eric Wilson. After a hearing on Tuesday, the court decided to keep Durnov behind bars without bond until his trial. He is facing charges of homicide by vehicle, aggravated fleeing, and driving under the influence.
