Driver accused of multiple offenses in deadly shuttle bus collision near Denver Airport

A bus driver involved in a tragic accident near Denver International Airport in July, resulting in one fatality and 10 injuries, is now facing various charges. The collision occurred when a shuttle bus, carrying John Hughes and his family on their way to a reunion, turned left at an intersection and collided with a truck traveling through. The Commerce City Police Department stated that the pickup truck had the right-of-way as the shuttle bus attempted the left turn. As a result, three individuals, including Hughes, were thrown from the bus, with Hughes succumbing to his injuries. In response to the crash, road safety projects in the area have been accelerated, with a new regulation allowing left turns only on a green arrow at the intersection. The CCPD has recommended multiple charges against the bus driver, Kwame Adjei-Broni, including careless driving causing death, careless driving causing injury, and failure to yield. The case will now be forwarded to the Colorado 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office for further action.
