Driver accused of fatal 2024 Lauderhill crash held without bond, went over 120 mph: police

Following a tragic incident in Lauderhill on May 23, where a man lost his life and three others were injured in a collision, the driver responsible, Cristian Dupont Gonzalez, is now facing serious charges. Court records reveal that Dupont Gonzalez, 24, was allegedly driving at speeds exceeding 120 mph just moments before the crash occurred at around 4 a.m. Along NW 31st Avenue, a 35-mile-per-hour zone, his blue Mercedes collided with a silver Chevrolet sedan, resulting in the fatal injury of 50-year-old Daryl L. Walker. Dupont Gonzalez, who was found to be driving with a suspended license at the time, is currently in custody without bond. He faces charges including vehicular homicide, reckless driving causing bodily harm, and driving with a suspended license. Earlier probation records also indicate previous legal issues for Dupont Gonzalez in Broward County. The three other occupants in the Mercedes sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
