Driver accused in fatal crash that claimed life of Upstate teen, authorities report
A teenager from Gray Court, South Carolina tragically lost his life in a car accident on Wednesday evening, as confirmed by the Laurens County coroner. The incident occurred at the intersection of Greenpond Road and Simmons Road just before 7 p.m. The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that a 2020 Hyundai sedan was hit by a 2017 GMC pickup truck while attempting to make a left turn onto Greenpond Road. Sadly, the young driver of the Hyundai, 17-year-old Tyler Bishop, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the GMC was taken to the hospital for their injuries. Barrett Hastings Power, the driver of the pickup truck, has been charged with felony DUI resulting in death and was released on bail of $50,000 following the incident.
