Driver accused in deadly L5P crash denied bond

A woman accused of causing the death of a teenager in Little Five Points while attempting to evade a Georgia state trooper has been denied bond. Faduma Mohamed, 23, appeared in a DeKalb County courtroom where her attorney sought her release, but the judge ruled that due to being a flight risk and the possibility of committing additional crimes if released, she would remain in custody. The incident occurred when Georgia State Patrol officers tried to stop Mohamed for speeding and reckless driving on Interstate 20 eastbound. She failed to stop, leading to a pursuit that ended in a crash in Atlanta. Mohamed ran a red light, colliding with 19-year-old Cooper Schoenke's car, resulting in his death. Mohamed, who authorities suspect was under the influence of drugs during the chase, had previous felony charges of armed robbery and kidnapping. Schoenke's mother was present at the hearing and expressed her determination to seek justice for her son.
