Driver accused in deadly Hyde Park collision

A Kingston man, 46, was arrested in connection with a fatal crash that occurred in Hyde Park last month. Richard Rider faced multiple charges following the incident, which involved a head-on collision between his Ford F-150 pickup truck and a southbound Honda Accord driven by a 28-year-old individual. The tragic accident led to the death of the other driver, identified as Alijah Johnson. Rider's arrest came after toxicology results from a blood sample he provided indicated the presence of substances. It was determined that his truck had crossed into the opposite lane, resulting in the collision. Rider sustained serious injuries and was taken to a medical center for treatment. Following his arraignment in Hyde Park Justice Court, Rider was held on bail or bond. This marked his sixth arrest related to driving under the influence, and due to the recent charges, his driver's license was suspended. He will appear in court again on February 3 at 3:30 p.m.
