Driver, 19, fatally injured in car crash in Martin County
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is looking into a tragic accident that took place early Saturday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. on September 6, when a 2019 Toyota Rav 4 was heading southbound on Horizon Avenue, close to Salerno Road. The driver of the car allegedly failed to stop at the end of the street, which was a dead end. Instead of stopping, the vehicle continued forward off the road and ended up in a ditch, where it collided with an embankment on the other side. The passenger, a 30-year-old, suffered multiple broken bones but is in stable condition. The 19-year-old male driver was declared deceased at the scene.
