Dog saved after fatal utility pole accident in Effingham County
The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit is currently looking into a tragic incident involving a single-vehicle crash that occurred on Friday evening on Blue Jay Road close to Finch Lane. Deputies arrived at the scene shortly before 9 p.m. to discover that 34-year-old Jacob Lane had been driving in the westerly direction on Blue Jay Road when his car veered off the road, passed over Finch Lane, and collided with a utility pole. Tragically, Lane succumbed to his injuries at the location. At present, it remains unknown what factors led to the vehicle leaving the road. Following the crash, a compassionate bystander found Lane’s dog, Roxy, who had also been in the car during the incident.
