Gujarat officials have confirmed that the final death toll from the Air India Flight 171 tragedy in Ahmedabad is 260 people, including 241 passengers and crew members on the plane and 19 individuals on the ground. The identification process involved DNA matching and facial recognition to verify the remains. Authorities have recovered and identified all bodies, with the mortal remains handed over to their families. The incident, the deadliest aviation disaster in India in three decades, occurred when the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed shortly after take-off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport bound for London. A total of 71 people were injured, with 67 already discharged from medical facilities. An investigation led by India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau, with assistance from US and British investigators, is ongoing.
