Diesel spill on M-10 leads to rush hour travel disruptions.

The Thursday morning commute in Metro Detroit was affected by an accident involving a semitruck that resulted in the closure of the Lodge Freeway in Wayne County. The Michigan State Police reported that approximately 700 pounds of diesel fuel leaked onto M-10, causing three subsequent accidents. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. While the vehicles involved in the accidents were removed, the spill was still being addressed by 7 a.m. As a result of the incident, all southbound lanes of Lodge Freeway were closed at Wyoming Avenue. Traffic congestion had reached Meyers Road by 6 a.m., according to MDOT. In the meantime, motorists were advised to use McNichols eastbound to Livernois southbound as an alternate route until the cleanup was completed. Authorities did not provide a specific timeframe for when the freeway would reopen.
