Detective from Anderson Co. dies in motorcycle accident
An off-duty detective from the Anderson County Sheriff's Office tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident on Wednesday. Detective Mark Garrett was involved in a collision at Anderson Drive and Beaver Dam Road. Although he was not on duty at the time, Detective Garrett was identified as the victim by the Anderson County Sheriff's Office. The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that Detective Garrett was riding south on US-29 when a car, heading north, turned left into a driveway, resulting in the collision. Unfortunately, Garrett lost his life at the scene. Prior to his time in law enforcement, Detective Garrett served in fire services before making the transition in 2009. The sheriff's office shared their condolences and expressed their deepest sympathies in a recent statement.
