Details on Sacramento medical helicopter accident

A medical helicopter crashed on eastbound Highway 50 in Sacramento on Monday evening, injuring three people, one of whom was rescued by bystanders who helped lift part of the helicopter off of her. The crash occurred after the helicopter experienced an in-air emergency shortly after departing a hospital. Despite the crash happening in the center lanes of the highway, no other vehicles were involved, and miraculously, no one on the highway was injured. All three individuals on board, including the pilot, nurse, and paramedic, were in critical condition and taken to local hospitals. The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the crash. The helicopter, operated by REACH Air Medical, did not catch fire. The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed overnight and reopened Tuesday morning.
