Deputy injured in semi collision with parked patrol car on I-25.
On Wednesday morning at about 4:13 a.m., a deputy was hurt when a semi truck hauling a trailer collided with a parked Weld County Sheriff's Office patrol car on Interstate 25. According to the Colorado State Patrol, the incident occurred when the semi veered off the road and into a ditch between I-25 and Frontage Road. The patrol car had been stationary on the right shoulder of the highway behind an empty Nissan Rogue, awaiting a tow truck following a DUI arrest. The injured deputy was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries but was discharged later that morning. Despite a fuel leak, the semi driver did not report any injuries. While one southbound lane was initially open near milepost 236, all lanes were cleared just before 7 a.m. Although traffic was restored, some residual slowdowns were expected as the area was being cleared. The cause of the crash remains unknown, with the state patrol continuing to investigate the incident.
