Delays in Lincoln Tunnel affect NYC morning commute

There are significant delays in both directions at the Lincoln Tunnel during the Thursday morning commute in New York City. A crash on the outbound side of the Helix led to lane closures for approximately six hours overnight and into the early morning. The investigation of the crash required the closure of all outbound lanes leading onto 495, with drivers detoured off to the Weehawken-Hoboken local exit. Only one inbound lane was open, resulting in delays stretching back to the New Jersey Turnpike and onto Route 3. While all lanes reopened just after 7:30 a.m., there are still lingering delays in the area. Drivers are advised to consider using the George Washington Bridge or Holland Tunnel as alternate routes.
