Debate on law enforcement chase continues after fatal crash in Northern Colorado.

Over a week following a tragic head-on collision involving a stolen vehicle that resulted in the death of a middle school teacher in Northern Colorado, authorities are still investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash. The incident began when a Weld County Sheriff's Office deputy discovered a vehicle with stolen plates, prompting a response that was documented by CBS News Colorado. Deputies quickly identified the stolen plate on a white GMC Yukon and attempted to pull over the car as it maneuvered through Platteville towards Highways 85 and 60. After deploying police lights and calling for backup, the driver, later identified as Kayla Dickinson, initially stopped near CR 36 and Highway 85 but abruptly drove away. Subsequent attempts to locate the vehicle were made, despite avoiding the term “pursuit” until further investigation. However, within seconds, Dickinson was seen driving into oncoming traffic on Highway 85, leading to the fatal crash that claimed the lives of Dickinson, an unidentified passenger, and the teacher, Christine Schwarz.
