Death of individual involved in Highway 27 crash

VICKSBURG, Miss. (VDN) — Unfortunately, the individual operating a blue Chevrolet sedan involved in a collision on Highway 27 has passed away. The incident occurred around 3:45 a.m. when a blue sedan collided with a white SUV at the intersection of Highway 27 and Paxton Road. While authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident, reports suggest that the blue sedan was traveling northbound and collided with the southbound SUV. The sole occupant of the blue Chevrolet was trapped in the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. Emergency responders from the Warren County Fire Service and Rescue were on-site to extricate the driver. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office, led by Deputy Clemts, closed the road to facilitate the response efforts. Utilizing extraction equipment such as the "Jaws of Life," emergency personnel successfully freed the driver. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Monique Brown from Hazlehurst, was then transferred to a local hospital in a fire medic unit, where she unfortunately succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash, according to Warren County Deputy Coroner Daryl Carson. Among the three occupants of the white SUV was an infant who fortunately did not sustain any injuries in the accident. The SUV's license plates did not originate from Warren County. The male driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries, while the female passenger was similarly injured and both were transported to a nearby hospital along with the infant.
