Death of car accident survivor after falling into well while seeking assistance
A tragedy unfolded after a Georgia woman, Shirley Obert, 67, survived a car crash near Abercrombie and Oxford Roads but tragically lost her life in her attempt to seek help. Despite wearing her Chick-fil-A uniform, Obert went missing after calling her husband for help. Local authorities, including the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, initiated an extensive search involving the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, fire units, and aircraft units. Unfortunately, the search ended in sorrow when Obert was found dead in a deep, unmarked well close to where her car had crashed. It is suspected that in her efforts to seek aid after the accident, she met a tragic fate. Anna Watkins, the public information officer for the sheriff's office, confirmed that the incident occurred around 7 AM while Obert was en route to work. She leaves behind her husband, four sons, and a daughter. This somber event occurred just shortly after another similar incident in Pennsylvania, echoing the dangers individuals face in such circumstances.
