Death of ATV driver in western Wisconsin following collision with deer
A tragic incident occurred in western Wisconsin on Tuesday afternoon as an ATV collided with a deer, resulting in the death of the operator. The Polk County Sheriff's Office reported that the crash occurred on 150th Avenue, east of County H, in Apple River. The operator, who was traveling eastbound on the ATV, hit the deer and was pronounced dead at the scene. Sadly, the operator was not wearing a helmet and sustained fatal injuries due to the collision with the deer. The individual's identity will be disclosed at a later time as the crash is being investigated by the Wisconsin DNR and Polk County Sheriff's Office. According to recent data from the Wisconsin DNR as of August 13, there have been 25 fatal crashes involving ATVs and UTVs this year, with five involving individuals under the age of 18. Officials emphasize that the main factors contributing to these tragic accidents are the lack of helmet use and seat belt compliance.
