A 62-year-old skydiver from Connecticut tragically passed away after a collision with another jumper during a skydiving session in Orange, Massachusetts. The incident, reported by New York Post, resulted in the fatality of the experienced skydiver, Robert Szabo. The other skydiver involved was thankfully unharmed in the accident. The jumper who tragically lost his life was a respected member of the Connecticut Parachutists skydiving club, where he was known for his dedication and unique personality. He succumbed to his injuries three days after the October 4 jump from a Jumptown Skydiving plane. Following a thorough medical evaluation, doctors concluded that Szabo's condition was irrecoverable, leading to the difficult decision to remove life support. The incident is currently under investigation by the Northwestern District Attorney’s office as authorities work to determine the cause of the tragedy. Orange, where the accident occurred, is situated over 70 miles west of Boston and approximately 10 miles south of the New Hampshire state line. The local fire department in Orange regularly conducts training exercises with Jumptown to be prepared for any skydiving-related incidents. This unfortunate incident is the second fatality connected to Jumptown in under ten years, with the previous happening in 2018.
