
Death of 2-year-old Detroit girl in vehicle accident called accidental by police
A 2-year-old girl tragically passed away due to injuries sustained after being hit by a family vehicle in Detroit. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday near Victoria Avenue and McDougall Street. Detroit Police Captain Derrick Griffin described it as a heartbreaking accident. The child was initially being held by a sibling but unfortunately ran into the road as her father began to drive away, resulting in the collision. Despite being rushed to Children's Hospital in critical condition by first responders, she eventually succumbed to her injuries. Detroit Police, Fire, and EMS teams were all present at the scene, and further investigation will involve the Detroit Police Department Fatal Squad Unit. Griffin extended heartfelt sympathy to the family and community affected by this tragic event.
