Deadly wrong-way crash closes parts of I-15 north of Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- One person is dead following a deadly wrong-way crash on I-15 north of Las Vegas. According to the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on I-15, near mile marker 79, in the southbound lanes. Police said the crash happened at around 1:42 a.m. on Monday, April 14, and involved two vehicles: a minivan and a semi tractor trailer. According to police, the minivan was driving the wrong way, northbound in the southbound lanes on I-15. Medical personnel pronounced one person dead at the scene. The driver of the semi tractor-trailer was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. I-15 and mile marker 79 southbound is currently closed due to fire and rescue at the scene. The crash was approximately 25 miles north of the Las Vegas Speedway.
