Deadly tour bus crash on I-90 in Pembroke
A fatal collision involving a tour bus resulted in the closure of all traffic on the New York State Thruway in Pembroke on Friday. Reports from the scene indicated multiple fatalities and injuries, including the possibility of a child's death. New York State Police suspect the bus lost control and overturned, with authorities planning to analyze dash cam footage for more details. While the driver survived and is reportedly in stable condition, around 50 passengers, predominantly of Chinese, Filipino, and Indian descent, were on board the bus heading back to New York City after a visit to Niagara Falls. Police are collaborating with interpreters to communicate with the surviving passengers. Emergency response efforts saw 24 patients transported to Erie County Medical Center, with Kaleida Health also treating crash victims. Due to extensive delays, drivers are advised to seek alternate routes. Governor Kathy Hochul has been briefed on the tragic incident, with ConnectLife issuing an urgent appeal for blood donations to aid those injured in the accident. To help, individuals are encouraged to schedule a blood donation appointment at ConnectLifeGiveBlood.org or by calling 716-529-4270.
